  3. Congrats!!! It's wonderful you are doing this. I love my sponser kids so much! Have you considered also becoming Correspondance Sponsers? I have 3 kids I sponser financial and another 7 I Correspond with (though I think the limit is 3 in the USA, you could each do 3). Basically it's a program for kids that have sponsers but never receive letters. The letters are soooo important to the kids, as it gives them hope and faith, but often kids are sponsered by people without time to write, or large companies who can't, so they receive a Correspondance sponser... meaning to the child you are their sponser, but you don't have to pay the monthly fee. You just have to build a relationship with the child through letters. The downside of course, is that if the financial sponser decides to stop sponsering or take over, then you "lose" that child, but even a few letters can give that child a lifetime of hope.

Hope to see a photo of Veve up here soon :)

PS: If you haven't yet, join ourcompassion.org It's a great resource for sponsers and filled with friendly people who love their sponser kids. And if you are interested... I also post pictures and letters from my kids on my blog http://teresadawn.wordpress.com/

    2. All you have to do is phone or email Compassion and ask for 1 (or 2 or 3) Correspondance children. and they will add them to your account and send you your packet for your new child :) The requirements are that you write at least 3 times a year (and I think for their birthday & Christmas), but really I'd recommend being willing to write once a month or at least once every two months to the child.
The kids generally receive their letters on a special "Mail Day" once a month, and it means so much to them to have a letter waiting when the mail trucks come in :)

  5. Lyssa, as soon as you are assigned a sponsor acct. You can call compassion and tell them you would like to be a correspondent sponsor. I think you can have up to 3 children to write. You would be their sponsor in every eay except the financial obligation. The financial sponsor chooses not to have any comtact with the child, so basically they are funding Your sponsorship with the child. You really need to get on ourcompassion.org. its like facebook for sponsors.

  6. I am so excited for you girls! Yesterday morning, I went to donate $20 and my computer froze up for a minute. I clearly felt the urging to send a whole month's sponsorship. I see that you've collected another month's sponsorship as well. I smiled ear to ear when I saw that this morning!

I blogged about you ladies and hope that you have an army of prayer warriors lifting you up.

I can't wait to see your new little girl. If you go to the Compassion website and click the "contact us" link on the top right, you can email CI and ask them to email you the photo file of your child. That way you can share her picture here so we can all say, "Awwwwww!" together.

May the Lord bless you all. If you have any questions about sponsorship, please don't hesitate to ask me. I don't know it all but I have been through the Advocate training and have done my fair share of research about Compassion.

Join OurCompassion and if you have the time to do so, you might like to correspond with a few children as well. The letters are blessings to the kids, for sure!

I am so happy for you ladies! <3
